Specific Information

  • The original passport must state the place of residence abroad.
  • Photocopy of air ticket or declaration must include details (date of arrival, etc.).
  • The baggage certificate, “Certificado de Bagagem,” must state that all the items are used and have been in the owner of the goods’ possession for more than 6 months (do not show values).
  • The baggage certificate must state that the owner of the goods has been living in the origin country for more than 12 months.
  • Residence certificate “Atestado de Residencia” can be obtained in the Parish Council by the owner of the goods’ residence area in Portugal; it must state that the owner of the goods is living at the new address for no longer than 4 months.
  • Portuguese nationals are not required to provide proof of application for a residence permit. 
  • If the owner of the goods is not a citizen of the origin country, proof of residency for a period of at least 12 months is required; this can be proven through a photocopy of identity card, certificate issued by the Portuguese Consulate or employment contract from the origin country.
  • Transferees must be present for Customs clearance and must provide an exact date of arrival in Portugal.
  • Although normal goods are duty free, Custom’s broker fees are generally required and are based ad valorem.
  • Port handling charges and warehouse fees may be included in Custom’s broker fees but can be expensive; estimates should be requested from agent prior to import.
  • Used household goods are considered duty-free if they have been in the owner of the goods’ possession for a period of at least 6 months and are not for sale after the shipment has been released.
  • Goods must arrive within 6 months of owner of the goods’ arrival in the destination country.
  • Inheritance requires a certified copy of the death certificate as well as the will, to allow for duty free import.

Motor Vehicles

Specific Information

  • Duty-free entry for temporary import period of 6 months, during which definitive importation of the car must occur.
  • Costs of duties and taxes depend on value of the motor vehicle in Portugal.
  • If no definitive importation is performed, the motor vehicle must leave the country before a period of 6 months.
  • Boats are subject to the payment of duties.
  • Only 1 car allowed.
    • Other cars will incur duties.

Specific Information

  • The owner of the goods must be in Qatar during Customs clearance.
  • The residence visa must be obtained prior to arrival of the shipment.
  • Documents must be received by agent at least 5 days prior to arrival of the shipment.
  • Customs will inspect all packages.
  • Customs clearance takes approximately 3 - 4 business days from the date of receipt of the original documents required for clearance. 
    • Storage or demurrage charges will be billed back to the owner of the goods or agent per the receipt.
  • All sea shipments that arrive at the Doha port after 6 months from the first entry date of the consignee will have a 5% customs duty levied.
  • The Customs duty is 5% of the estimated value of goods determined by the Customs Valuation Committee plus the legalization charges of approximately USD $175.00. Legalization charges will not apply for personal effects import
  • All prohibited articles detained by Customs may be destroyed without consignee's consent.
  • All printed matter, records, films, books, pictures, tapes, slides, movies, videos, compact discs, computer software, etc. are subject to censorship and confiscation (must be packed separately for easy access) if caught with any of these items, customer will be subject to severe penalties and a possible jail term.
  • Travel bags and packages must remain unlocked.
  • All items have to be declared as per the packing list for all FCL/LCL imports. This means that for LCL at least 10 to 15 columns/entries will have to be entered into the customs declaration/bayan.

    • For 20’ at least 20 to 30 columns/entries will have to be entered into the customs declaration/bayan.
    • For 40’ at least 30 to 50 columns/entries will have to be entered into the customs declaration/bayan. 

Motor Vehicles

Specific Information

  • Vehicles must be Gulf standard and left-hand drive.
  • Automobiles should not be more than 5 years old.
  • The owner of the vehicle must be a resident in Qatar prior to registration of the vehicle.
  •  A 5% Customs duty is charged on the value of the vehicle identified on the price on the purchase / sales invoice or its depreciated value and is determined at the discretion of the Customs Officer in charge.

Pets

Specific Information

  • The veterinary health certificate must be issued by a government approved veterinarian clinic in the origin country and must confirm that the animal is in good health with current vaccinations.
  • The certificate must be dated within 2 weeks prior to the animal’s arrival in Qatar.

Specific Information

  • If the resident permit is unavailable, a statement will be issued that the owner of the goods will obtain within 6 months.
  • The personal declaration must state that the owner of the goods has owned the household goods and personal effects for at least 6 months, the goods are not intended for commercial purposes, and that the owner of the goods has lived abroad for a period of at least 12 months (template provided by agent in Romania).
  • Relief is not available from import duties for household goods belonging to natural persons transferring their secondary residence in the Customs territory of Romania.
  • Customs regulations in Romania are grounded on Council Regulation EEC Number 918/83.
  • An owner of the goods can be admitted free of import duties and VAT if:
    • Non - citizens must:
      • Transfer their main residence from another country to Romania
      • Reside outside Romania for at least 12 months
      • Goods are for personal use and cannot be sold within 2 years after Customs clearance
    • Returning citizens must:
      • Transfer their secondary residence from another country to Romania
      • Reside outside Romania for at least 12 months
      • Goods are for personal use and cannot be sold within 2 years after Customs clearance
  • Import duties are charged for food, alcohol products, tobacco, and tobacco products and perfumes.
  • An Economic Operators Registration and Identification number (EORI) is required for import and export of household goods and personal effects, including motor vehicles.
  • Valued inventory showing serial numbers of electric appliances, photographs, including antiques and art, carpets, lamps, paintings, silver, and crystals (2 copies each) is required.
  • The fiscal number and registration certificate copy of the company must be provided by the employer in Romania.

Motor Vehicles

  • Motor vehicles require the same set of documents listed for household goods as well as those listed above

Specific Information

  • Vehicles can be registered with the payment of a first registration charge, which varies from a few hundred Euros (if car complies with Euro 3 standards), to thousands of Euros (if it is a non-Euro or Euro 1).
  • A guarantee must be paid by the owner of the goods account for vehicle and motorcycles and will be recovered by the time the owner of the goods is moving from Romania.
  • Diplomats are not charged first registration fees or duties on motor vehicles.
  • Duties are charged on all imported vehicles, excluding diplomats.

Pets

Specific Information

  • Pets should be vaccinated at least 30 days prior to entry into Rwanda; however, they must not have been vaccinated more than 12 months prior to entry.

Restricted/Dutiable Items

  • Firearms and ammunitions (authorization from the territorial administration required)
  • A certificate of free entry must be obtained from the Line Ministry Alcohol and other spirits :
    • Only "Fond de Cave" is acceptable (less than 15 bottles).

Specific Information

  • A duty exemption will be given to goods if all documentation as requested above is in order. 
  • Goods should be in the owner of the goods’ possession and used for more than 3 months.
  • Shipment must be imported into Singapore within 6 months of the owner of the goods’ first arrival into Singapore.  
  • If shipment arrives more than 6 months after owner of the goods’ employment pass (EP) into Singapore, shipment is subject to 7% goods and services tax (GST) on the cost, insurance, and freight (CIF) value.  
  • Returning Singaporean residents should be away for more than 6 months to get 7% GST relief.
  • Embassy, high commission, Consulate or accredited trade organization in and owner of the goods who have been accorded diplomatic and consular privileges and immunities by the Singapore Government are eligible for duty exemption and GST relief on all goods that are for the personal or official use of the owner of the goods  or organization; an exemption permit is required to cover the import of such goods but the organization and its authorized claimants have to be first registered with Customs.
  • A failure to declare all items or pay taxes due may result in prosecution, fines, and/or imprisonment.

Motor Vehicles

Documents Required

  • Certificate of compliance

Specific Information

  • Certificate of compliance from exhaust emission control standard is required for all new and used vehicles.
  • Autos and motorcycles are subject to very high duty and registration fees; importation highly discouraged.
  • Must be registered in owner of the goods’ name for continued use and not for resale.
  • Left-hand drive vehicles are prohibited.
  • Vehicles more than three years old cannot be imported.
  • Boats are duty-free, but must be for the owner of the goods’ use and not for resale.
  • Dismantled vehicles are not permitted.

Please do not load motor vehicle into shipment first. The cost of register vehicle for use on roads is significant.  It is strongly advised that transferee contact agent as well as the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for specific information.

Pets

Documents Required

  • Import license from the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA)
  • Reservation for quarantine (if applicable) must be made prior to import

Specific Information

  • If ownership of an animal cannot be verified from birth to 6 months for that animal, it will be quarantined.

Note:  There are many requirements regarding the importation of pets into Singapore.  It is strongly advised that transferee contact agent as well as the AVA for specific information.
